US Open Tennis Betting Preview
The final tennis grand slam of the year gets underway this week with the US Open taking place. In the men’s event, all eyes will be on Novak Djokovic, world number 1 and here to try and win all four grand slams in a calendar year.
Over in the women’s event, Naomi Osaka returns to action here, and many will be interested to see what she can do given the build up she’s had, there is no doubting her talent, but she may be a little rusty.
US Open Men’s Preview
If you look at the men’s draw in terms of ability, then there is no doubt that Novak Djokovic has a fair advantage over the field as being the best but there is a lot more to consider here. Djokovic has been on the go for most of the year and has been competing at a very high level.
However, recently we have seen him losing twice at the Tokyo Olympics to miss out on a medal and also pull out of two events due to injury. He’s said that rather than one big injury, he has numerous issues, and looks to be desperate for a rest and time away to recover, but of course, he will compete here, with it being a grand slam.
Daniil Medvedev is the main danger and looks to have a great chance but like Djokovic, he seems a little short in the betting.
With that in mind, for value we really like Andrey Rublev at a much bigger price. The 23-year-old has won before on the tour and has reached the quarter final stage in grand slams. He’s reached that stage twice here in the past, and a combination of him being better now and this tournament lacking a little depth, means he looks to have a great chance of going far.
US Open Women’s Preview
Over in the women’s event, Naomi Osaka will attract attention, but given this is her first event back after a break from the sport, the chances are that she will need this, and will not be able to perform to the best of her ability.
Osaka has dominated this tournament in the past, but Ashleigh Barty may now have a chance to land one. The Australian has been on top form this year, she won Wimbledon in the summer and has recorded wins in her last two tournaments.
Elsewhere, other players have the potential to win this in the women’s draw, but many are either out of form, prefer a different surface, or don’t have the experience of winning a grand slam.
She is not the ideal player for the US Open, and prefers the grass surface, but she has worked hard to improve on that, and given that Osaka will more than likely not be at her best, this may be the best chance Barty has had to win this.
