Premier League Weekend Preview
The Premier League heads into matchday 2 this weekend and alongside that, it is also the first time we get to see both Manchester teams take to the field after they were given an extra week off for playing in Europe.
The big game of the weekend features last year’s champions Liverpool, they travel to Chelsea for a game that looks sure to be full of goals on Sunday afternoon.
This weekend we have three games to look at across Saturday, Sunday and Monday forming a tasty looking Premier League treble.
Manchester United vs Crystal Palace – Saturday 5:30pm
Manchester United play their first game of the season and it is one they should win at home to Crystal Palace. The visitors are amongst the relegation favourites for the Premier League this season, though did get off to a winning start last weekend at home to Southampton. Of course, a trip to Old Trafford is very different.
Expect Palace to come into this one and defend, we saw little from them going forward last weekend to show they can trouble the United defence and for that reason, our first tip of the weekend is Manchester United to win this game to nil.
Chelsea vs Liverpool – Sunday 4:30pm
Between these two teams, we saw a total of seven goals last weekend and if there is anything to hold onto here it is that both will attack and both will score. This should be a very entertaining game, made even better by the fact that Liverpool are yet to hit top gear based on their games against Leeds last weekend and the game against Arsenal in the Community Shield.
While Liverpool are the better team, this could be a good time to play them and the chance for Chelsea to lay down a marker to the rest of the league to show they are a genuine threat to the top two. We can’t be confident about backing either, so we are betting on goals here and backing both teams to score in the first half in what will be a fast start to the game.
Wolves vs Manchester City – Monday 8:15pm
Title favourites Manchester City get their season underway on Monday night and would certainly have preferred an easier start. This is a similar game to the one on Sunday, both teams will come here and attack and goals look likely.
Wolves will certainly target the Manchester City defence, one that looked a little shaky at times last season. However, they will know all too well about the threat posed by City going forward, so expect an end to end battle in this one.
We can’t pick a winner, but are expecting goals and we are backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in this one to round off our weekend treble.
