Premier League: Super Sunday Treble
There’s no televised game on Friday evening this week, but the Sky team makes up for that with an enhanced Super Sunday offering. As is the case for much of the 2025/26 campaign, we have a choice of two games at 2pm followed by the headline 4:30pm fixture. However, this week, football fans will remain glued to their sofas for a little longer, thanks to the addition of a third game at 7pm.
As ever, we will seek to increase our enjoyment by earning a profit from the afternoon’s entertainment. With that in mind, here we present our best bets in three of the Sunday afternoon fixtures.
Brighton vs Manchester City – Sunday 2pm
The Seagulls must be disappointed to pick up just one point from a home clash with Fulham and a trip to Everton. On a more positive note, Fabian Hurzeler’s men won the xG battle in both games, only to be pegged back at the death by Fulham and undone by missed chances at Everton.
New look Manchester City began the season in style with a 4-0 rout of Wolves at Molineux, leading many to suggest they may go close to reclaiming their title. Just one game later, questions are once again being asked following a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Spurs.
City have hit greater heights than Brighton so far this season and remain the superior outfit. However, we aren’t in a rush to support them at a short price on the road so early in the season.
At a bigger price, we prefer to take a chance on both teams to score in the first half. Both sides have shown a propensity to start games quickly. Last time out at Everton, Brighton racked up eight shots in the first half, including two on target, and really ought to have taken a lead into the break. Similarly, City dominated the first 30 minutes against Spurs before being undone by a long ball and a goalkeeping calamity. If both sides stick to what we have seen in their opening fixtures, we could be in for a fast start at the Amex.

Liverpool vs Arsenal – Sunday 4:30pm
First and second in 2024-25 and first and second in the betting for the 2025-26 season, many expect Liverpool and Arsenal to fight it out in the race for the title. Two games into the campaign, the Reds and Gunners are two of only three sides sitting on a maximum of six points.
Both sides have strong stats in their favour ahead of this huge clash. Liverpool have lost only two of their last 51 Premier League games at Anfield, while Arsenal are unbeaten in 22 fixtures against the “traditional” big six. There was nothing to split the sides last season, with both this game and the reverse fixture at the Emirates ending in a 2-2 draw.
Home advantage sees Liverpool start as favourites, but we have been far from impressed with the Reds to date. Wide open at times against Bournemouth, they lost the shot count 10-5 against a Newcastle side who were down to ten men from the 46th minute. Having put four past a Liverpool side who were among the best defensive units in the league last season, we can see Arsenal nicking this and making a big statement in the title race.

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace – Sunday 7pm
Last stop Villa Park, as the hosts bid to get their season up and running. Two games in, Unai Emery’s men have just one point to their name and are yet to score a goal. As such, a clash with a Crystal Palace outfit who have won three of the past four meetings between the sides probably isn’t high on their wish list.
Lucky to escape with a 0-0 draw in their home opener against Newcastle, Villa were marginally better at Brentford but still managed only two shots on target. Without 2024/25 loanees Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, the Villans have looked devoid of attacking ideas.
Palace, in contrast, had a goal disallowed and four shots on target at Chelsea, and another four in a home draw with Forest. Even without Eze, the Eagles are a huge threat on the break – an area where Villa looked vulnerable against Newcastle. We like the visitors at 3/1, but just prefer a bet on Ismaila Sarr to score anytime. Notching four times in as many outings against Villa last term, he struck against Forest last weekend and is the man most likely to find the net on Sunday evening.
