Champions League Final Betting Preview
Last weekend, Arsenal were crowned Premier League Champions for the first time in 22 years. This weekend, they could take home the Champions League trophy for the first time. But, in order to achieve this they’ll need to beat the current reigning champions — and bookies' favourites — Paris Saint-Germain.
Last year, PSG demolished three-time winners Inter Milan. The 5-0 victory was not only one of the most one-sided finals in the modern history of football, but also their first-ever Champions League victory. The game showcased PSG’s attacking depth, relentless pressing, and undeniable ability to dominate possession against elite opposition.
Will Arsenal suffer the same fate as Inter at Puskás Aréna in Budapest this Saturday (30 May)? Arsenal have maintained their excellent defensive form throughout the 25/26 season, which could stifle PSG’s high goal-scoring tendencies. Arsene Wenger believes the final is “fifty-fifty”, but is this really the case?
What Do the Numbers Say?
Just like last year’s final, we’re looking at two teams from two different leagues. However, taking a comparative look at both teams’ last five games gives us a sense of their current form, attacking efficiency, and defensive stability.
Arsenal are clearly in better form than PSG, both inside and outside the Champions League. Not only have they won their last five games, but they’ve been on solid form throughout the European Cup.
The Road to the Final
Out of the 15 games they’ve played, Arsenal have won 11 and drawn 3 times. This has included several epic victories, including their 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in November. In the semi-finals, they beat Atlético Madrid 1-0 with the lone goal tapped in by Bukayo Saka in the 44th minute.
PSG, on the other hand, has won 10 games, drawn 4, and lost 2 (playing a total of 16 games after finishing 11th in the league phase).
Arsenal have, therefore, been in slightly better form overall throughout the competition. They’re also likely to put on a more confident display this weekend following their Premier League victory.
In terms of head-to-head figures, Arsenal has won three out of the teams’ last seven clashes, while PSG have only won two. However, these clashes date back to 2007, so they don’t really reflect the current teams’ standing over each other.
Can PSG Maintain Their Title?
Despite Arsenal’s current poise and focus, their lack of experience could result in a defeat this weekend. It’s worth noting that only three of the last 20 European Cup champions have been first-time winners.
At the same time, the likelihood of PSG winning twice in a row is also doubtful, if you were to go on the history of the competition alone.
In recent history, the only team to achieve consecutive wins is Real Madrid, who won a whopping three times between 2015/16 and 2017/18. While many teams have achieved a European Cup streak, the last team to do it before Real Madrid was AC Milan, who won twice in a row between 1988/89 and 1989/90.
Expected Lineups
The predicted lineups for the game are as follows:
Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba are the primary reasons that Arsenal have only conceded six goals throughout the European Cup. Still, they’ll have their work cut out for them when up against top-goal scorers Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaraskhelia has been in exceptional form throughout the competition, having scored 10 goals and 6 assists in 15 games.
The Bets
While PSG has the experience and the attacking ability, Arsenal is definitely in winning mode now. Plus, the Gunners have one of the best central defensive partnerships in European football.
Despite this, bookmakers are predicting PSG to be the winners of the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League. On average, they have PSG to win at 7/10, and Arsenal to win at 13/10.
