Chris Waddle: PSG to beat Arsenal in Champions League Final
Former Premier League midfielder Chris Waddle has told NewBettingOffers.co.uk that he believes Paris Saint Germain will beat Arsenal in this weekend’s Champions League Final in Budapest.
I’m going to side with Paris Saint-Germain for the Champions League Final on Saturday,” he said. “I’ve been really impressed with them throughout the competition. That balance makes them one of the most complete teams in Europe right now.

“From Arsenal’s point of view, I actually think the tactical side of the game is going to be fascinating. Mikel Arteta’s side have developed into a very brave football team over the last couple of years and, naturally, they like to dominate possession and play on the front foot. The problem is that against PSG, doing that for 90 minutes could leave too many spaces. If Arsenal try to match them blow for blow in an open contest, I just think PSG have too many match winners across the pitch.
“If you look back at Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, they tried to take PSG on directly at times and found it incredibly difficult. PSG’s movement in forward areas caused problems constantly, while defensively they looked organised and composed. That’s what has impressed me most about them this season – they’re not just a team full of attacking talent anymore, they also look very solid without the ball.”
1-0 to the Arsenal?
“Arsenal, to their credit, have shown over recent weeks that they are capable of grinding out results and defending resolutely when needed. Since losing to Manchester City, they’ve looked more disciplined and harder to break down. If they are going to win, it probably has to be one of those classic Arsenal performances where they stay patient, frustrate the opposition and take one big chance when it comes. As the old saying goes: “1-0 to the Arsenal!” – that’s exactly the kind of game they’ll be hoping for.
“The longer Arsenal can keep the match level, the more belief they’ll gain. If they can take PSG into extra time, then momentum and nerves can completely change the feel of a final. However, over the course of 90 minutes, I just think PSG have slightly more quality and depth in the decisive areas of the pitch.
“I’m going to go with a 2-0 win for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday. Arsenal will compete and make it difficult for periods of the game, but PSG look like a team who can just turn it on at any point.”
