Arsenal host Liverpool this Saturday teatime in what is the game of the weekend in the English Premier League. There is no doubt that these are two of the best in the league, but what adds another layer of interest to this game is the prospect of goals, and a very open, attacking contest.
Both sides have been playing well recently, Liverpool are in 2nd position in the Premier League, while Arsenal sit 4th. Liverpool are yet to be beaten this season, with eight wins and two draws from their first ten games, while Arsenal have been beaten twice but that was their first two games way back in August. That means they come here on the back of an eight game unbeaten run, which has seen them win seven and draw one, which was their game last week against Crystal Palace. Both teams should be full of confidence given their recent form, and neither will want to lose their unbeaten run on Saturday evening.
While the formations employed by both and the wealth of attacking players in their ranks point to goals, stats also suggest the goalkeepers could be picking the ball out of the net on a few occasions here. In their last eight meetings, we have seen four goals or more scored on seven occasions!
We have seen Arsenal involved in some high scoring games recently, while Liverpool have scored four goals in their last two games. One thing to remember is that we all expected goals when Liverpool faced Manchester City last month, and that game ended 0-0. I can’t see that here though, I see goals, goals and more goals in this game, and plenty of excitement for those tuning in to watch.
