Who Will be the Next Permanent Manchester United Manager?
Despite not winning the Premier League for a number of years now, it is fair to say that the Manchester United managerial job is as big as any other in the league. It comes with a huge amount of pressure, requirements to get back into the top four on a regular basis, and ultimately, win the league title.
United fans are unhappy as they watch their two rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City, keep the league title between them. This summer, a new man will take over the helm at United, but who will it be?
Here is a look at the main candidates.
Mauricio Pochettino
Since his days at Tottenham, Poch has been named as a future Manchester United manager. He has been installed as the 6/4 favourite with Betfair and looks to have a strong chance of being given the job, despite currently being at PSG.
Every time the Manchester United job has come up recently, Poch has been in contention for it, it seems only a matter of time before he gets a crack, and that could come this summer, if he wants it.
Ralf Rangnick
The current interim boss is supposed to move up into the directors box and oversee playing operations with a manager underneath him. But what if Rangnick brings success o the field, will that be enough to give him the managerial role?
He’s currently 5/2 with Betfair, but you get the feeling that his odds will shorten or lengthen depending on how the rest of the season goes. Even if Rangnick doesn’t want the job, success this season will see his odds shorten, and the board may make him an offer that is too good to refuse.
Brendan Rodgers
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has seemingly been in line for a big managerial position since doing such a wonderful job at Leicester. Things haven’t been going to plan for The Foxes this year, is Rodgers finding things a little stale and in need of a change?
He would more than likely jump at the chance to manage them and is 11/2 with Betfair to become the manager next season. Further troubles at Leicester would certainly strengthen the appeal of United for the form Liverpool and Celtic boss.
Erik ten Hag
Dutch boss Erik ten Hag has worked wonders for Ajax, competing well in Europe despite a relatively small budget compared to what teams in other nations spend. The 51 year old is on the cusp of a big job elsewhere in one of the top European leagues, could United go knocking at his door?
If experience of managing in the Premier League is not a necessity, then ten Hag is firmly in the picture, and is currently 13/2 with Betfair.
Diego Simeone
With a similar profile to ten Hag, Diego Simeone is another who could become manager if United don’t want Premier League experience. Something else that could stop the Argentinian from being in charge is his defensive style of play, but there is no doubt he has proven that he knows how to win.
