Betting on who will be the next James Bond?
Being James Bond is a role that many actors dream of, and something that is the pinnacle of many careers. But who will be the next James Bond? This is something that is up for discussion, and there are plenty of people talking about it.
Not only that, but the role is so big that bookmakers are currently betting on who it will be.
Here is a look at some of the big contenders for the role, and their odds to be the next James Bond.
Tom Hardy – 7/2
Tom Hardy is the current favourite to land this role, and it is easy to see why, given the roles he has previously played. However, it is not as simple and straight forward as Hardy taking the role, as there are a couple of things that may go against him.
The biggest of those is his age, as Hardy is currently in his 40s. That doesn’t mean to say he cannot do the role, because it is clear that he can, but there is a lot of talk about the next Bond being younger, so that they can complete a long run of films in the role. This would mean Hardy is unlikely to be chosen, if this train of thought is true, but if it isn’t then Hardy is certainly a possibility.
Rege-Jean Page – 4/1
Rege-Jean Page has shot to fame after his fantastic work in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, and that has got many people thinking of him as a future James Bond. Pierce Brosnan has said that Page would make a fantastic James Bond, which is big praise indeed.
Should he not get the role this time, Page may get another shot in the future. He has signed up to play in a reboot of The Saint, which was the original show that gave Roger Moore the leg up to become Bond, eventually, Page could follow the same path.
Richard Madden – 4/1
Perhaps the biggest fit for someone who will be a Bond for a long time is Richard Madden, as he is just 35. Despite his relative youth, Madden has already proved himself as a lead in big roles in both The Bodyguard and Game of Thrones.
These are two highly recognisable roles that will ensure Madden has a fanbase already behind him, and the only question could be his availability. With Madden being so busy, could he commit to Bond full time?
Idris Elba – 6/1
Idris Elba is certainly cool enough to be James Bond. From small TV dramas to big budget blockbuster movies, Elba has been there and done it all before, he certainly has the experience to play Bond.
In Luther he offers the perfect example as to why he would make a great Bond, and the producers will certainly have watched that with interest. He is in his 50s though, which may cool interest in him, if the team want a long term Bond.
