The first North London Derby of the season takes place this weekend, and you will have to go back a while to find the last time these two met when they were so far away from each other in the standings.
Heading into the weekend’s action, Tottenham are top of the table, though could lose that if Chelsea win on Saturday. Arsenal are all the way down in 14th position and really need to start climbing. The good news for The Gunners is that the table is very tight at the moment, they are just four points away from 5th placed West Ham coming into the weekend.
The two teams could not come here in form that was any more different. Spurs lost on the opening day of the season, but are unbeaten in the nine games since that, winning six of them. Arsenal have four wins to their name, but three of those came within the first four games of the season. Since then they have one win from their last six, and while that was a great away victory at Old Trafford, it simply isn’t good enough.
Goal scoring has been the main difference between these team. Arsenal have 10 goals from 10 games while Tottenham have scored more than twice that amount, with 21 from their 10 matches.
Spurs are even being spoken about as title contenders, which will rest on the ability of Harry Kane and Son to continue their goal scoring run. If you want to beat them, you have to stop those two players from having an impact.
While Arsenal haven’t put a foot wrong really defensively this season, this is a huge test and one that they are going to struggle with, which will be the determining factor of this game. Tottenham have the ability to break down Arsenal and win the game, with The Gunners not having the firepower to match their North London rivals and fight back.
