Federer Deserves Favourite tag for Wimbledon
While picking Roger Federer is not too difficult ahead of Wimbledon next week, it seems as though everything right now is going in the veterans favour, and he looks to have a great chance of winning the British event yet again.
Novak Djokovic has had injury problems in the past, and is not the player he has been due to those injuries. Andy Murray is not 100% sure to be playing and won’t make a decision until the weekend on his participation, with injuries beginning to take their toll on him too. Rafael Nadal won the French Open, but his form on grass and clay are completely opposite to each other, even more so in recent years.
All that leaves the door wide open for Federer to come back to Wimbledon and win the men’s title yet again. He is the class act, he is getting older, but seemingly still able to play at the top level. With so many question marks hanging over his rivals, he is the safe pick to lift the title two weeks on Sunday.
At 15/8 with Ladbrokes, Federer is very short, but looks fully deserving of that price when you look at his Wimbledon record, and the current form and fitness of his rivals.
