Premier League Treble 17-18 Sep

The Premier League is back this coming weekend, with a cracking set of matches to take in before we head into the international break – including no fewer than five televised games. Here we pick out our three best bets across the Saturday and Sunday fixtures.
Newcastle vs Bournemouth
Our first selection comes in the 3 pm kick-off at St. James Park, as Newcastle United take on Bournemouth. Newcastle have been made to wait to vent their frustrations following the VAR controversy against Palace, whilst Bournemouth are looking to continue their good run of form, having picked up a home draw against Wolves and a win on the road at Forest since the sacking of Scott Parker.
The hosts are heavily favoured for the win here, but a better value bet may be on Eddie Howe’s men to score three or more goals. The Magpies racked up a boatload of chances in that Palace game, and are averaging an xG of 2.42 goals at home this season, which is the fourth best in the league. Bournemouth meanwhile clearly have their defensive deficiencies, particularly on their travels with an average xG of 2.26 against. Bruno Guimaraes links up with Alexander Isak for the first time in this one, and the combination of the Brazilian’s incisive passing and the Swede’s intelligent running may spell trouble for the Cherries.
- Best Bet - Newcastle to score over 2.5 goals @ 7/4 with bet365
Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City
We head to North London for the next stop on the weekend treble, as Antonio Conté and Spurs play host to Brendan Rodgers’ beleaguered Leicester City outfit. Sitting rock bottom of the table heading into the weekend, the Foxes surely must improve at some point. However, there hasn’t been too much sign of that of late, with the defensive displays being a particular cause for concern – three games on the road so far seeing the King Power club concede a total of 11 goals.
That stat doesn’t augur particularly well heading into a game facing one of the most impressive attacking line-ups in the division, and if Kane, Son, Richarlison, Kulisveski and co click into gear, this could be another long afternoon for the visitors. That said, despite their inadequacies at the back, Leicester do remain a threat on the counter and Spurs have already failed to keep both Fulham and Southampton off the scoresheet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We like the look of goals in this one, with the over 3.5 total match goals looking decent value at odds against with William Hill.
- Best Bet - Over 3.5 goals @ 13/10 with betfair
Brentford vs Arsenal
Last but not least, we turn to the Gtech Community Stadium and what looks potentially one of the most entertaining fixtures of the week, as Brentford welcome league leaders Arsenal. Brentford are unbeaten in three at home and battered Leeds 5-2 here last time out, on the back of an inspired hattrick from Ivan Toney. Arsenal meanwhile have looked vastly improved overall but were humbled 3-1 at Old Trafford in their most recent outing and will be keen to get that out of their system here.
This game is another which would look to lean towards goals, with Brentford and Arsenal highly ranked in the respective home and away Xg tables. Most options look to be priced about right, but we fancy there may just be a bit of value in the Arsenal to score over 2.5 goals market. In their three away games so far, the Gunners scored twice at a defensively solid Palace, three times at Bournemouth, and were pretty unlucky to notch just once in that Old Trafford game. Adept at quickly beating the press, this may prove a good matchup for Mikel Arteta’s men.
- Best Bet - Arsenal to score over 2.5 goals at 9/4 with Ladbrokes
- £10 treble on the above selections pays £205.56 with Ladbrokes
