Premier League Preview
We have three fantastic games from the Premier League this Sunday, beginning with in-form Southampton hosting Manchester United, 3rd placed Chelsea hosting leaders Tottenham and rounding off with Arsenal v Wolves.
It is a day where many football fans will simply not leave the sofa.
All three have appeal from a betting perspective too, here are our tips for the Sunday matches this week.
Southampton v Manchester United - 2pm
The Saints are in great form at the moment, they come into the weekend in 5th position and unbeaten in seven games, five of which they have won.
Manchester United show signs of promise, but what has been really interesting with them is their struggles after they have played in the Champions League. Two excellent performances in Europe to beat PSG and Leipzig were followed by poor showings and a draw and a loss to Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.
With this in mind, and considering the form that Southampton are in, not to mention the rest they have had this week, we are backing Southampton or a draw on the double chance market here.
Chelsea v Tottenham - 4.30pm
The biggest of the three games this weekend and one that should be a cracker. Both teams come here on winning runs and even longer unbeaten runs, there is a lot at stake. Tottenham are eight unbeaten and have won their last four, Chelsea are seven unbeaten and have won their last three.
Both are playing so well that they could ultimately cancel each other out, but that doesn’t mean a lack of goals. Just three Premier League clubs have scored more than 20 goals so far this season, and these are two of them.
We are backing both teams to score and the match result to be a draw here.
Arsenal v Wolves - 7.15pm
When you think of Arsenal and Wolves, you immediately think of good football being played and plenty of scoring chances. However, the stats from this season so far tell a very different story.
Both teams have scored nine goals this season, only three teams (Burnley, West Brom & Sheffield United) have scored less than nine. That has to be a worry, but then both have conceded just 10 so far, and only Tottenham have conceded less than 10 in the league.
This all points towards a very low scoring game that will take time to develop, if it ever develops at all. With Wolves being the away team they won’t want to rush into things too much, and Arsenal played on Thursday so they may take a little time to get going.
With that in mind, we think the value here is to back a 0-0 draw at half time.
