Manchester United vs Tottenham Preview
Despite both finishing in the top four last season, there is some discontent around the camps of both Manchester United and Tottenham already this season. United have been criticised for the way they play, and failing to sign a centre back this summer. Tottenham have also been criticised for not signing anyone at all, a situation which could be made worse if anyone leaves the club before the end of the European transfer deadline at the end of the month.
An away defeat to Brighton further piled the pressure and misery on Manchester United last weekend and they must find a way to respond here. They are back on home soil, but if they begin to struggle during this game don’t be surprised to see fans turn against them and get on their backs. There appears to be division split three ways right now between the fans, the board and the manager. However, one thing that can’t happen is for the players to get involved, while all of this is happening they need to go out onto the field and perform as best they can and in a very professional manner.
Tottenham have put together two wins out of two so far but some of their fans still believe that not signing anyone this summer was a mistake. They are expected to finish in the top four again, challenge in the Champions League and go on a cup run, so it is surprising to see them not add anyone to their squad, even just for some depth.
However, with no changes in the squad one thing that Tottenham do have is team chemistry. Their players all know and understand each other, and that is something they can use to their advantage early in the season, while other teams have players finding their feet in the league. There is little to choose in terms of quality between these, but with Tottenham a relatively stable club right now, they are the pick at a nice price away from home. This won’t be easy, but if there is a good time to play Manchester United then it appears to be right now with the issues they have at the club.
