Lauren: Bournemouth loss was just a bad day; Arsenal are ready to win the title
Former Arsenal defender Lauren has told NewBettingOffers.co.uk that he believes Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Bournemouth was merely a bad day at the office, and his former side are ready to achieve their ultimate goal of winning the Premier League title this season.
Speaking to NewBettingOffers.co.uk, Lauren said: “In my opinion, Arsenal’s loss to Bournemouth was just a bad day at the office. I’m confident the team will bounce back, because I believe this is the year that they are ready to achieve their ultimate goal of winning the Premier League.
“I think William Saliba’s sending off was a harsh one. It is a tough situation that could have gone either way, but I feel that a red card was harsh. If you look at the movement of Ben White, he was in line with Saliba and could’ve got back to cover for him, so I feel it was harsh.
“Saliba has been a top player for Arsenal,” said Lauren. “He’s been brilliant alongside Gabriel over the past couple of seasons. Both of them have been really solid on and off the ball. I think Mikel Arteta will be able to find a solution to Saliba’s suspension. Whoever it is that steps into Saliba’s position, I think they’ll do a great job.”
Mikel Merino is great asset for a great Arsenal team
“Mikel Merino is a great player,” said Lauren. “He is not just someone who sits in front of the back four and nothing else. You can change systems with him, you can play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 because he has that engine to get up and down the pitch. He knows how to find spaces and play the right pass in the final third. He also has an eye for a goal, we saw that in his time at Real Sociedad. He’s a real asset to the team.
Looking at the wider team, Lauren praised the connection that the current squad has with the fans, suggesting they have instilled a new belief within the supporters.
He continued: “This Arsenal team have brought the older generation and younger generation of fans together. In the years before Mikel Arteta joined, that wasn’t necessarily the case. Now there is a real connection between the fans, the club and the team.
“Now there is a belief that they can challenge any team in the Premier League, Champions League, or any other competition. That renewed belief is thanks to this generation of players.”
Thierry Henry is without a doubt better than Salah
When asked to compare Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah, Lauren was adamant that the Frenchman was a better player than the Liverpool winger.
“Thierry Henry was better than Mohamed Salah, without a doubt,” he said. “He is Arsenal’s leading goalscorer of all-time and his mentality was incredible. He had quality, ability, and natural talent, but he also wanted to be the best every single day. Whether it was in training or in a match, he wanted to be the best.
“He could score from anywhere, free-kicks, counter-attacks, volleys, dribbling past everyone from the halfway line – he had everything. In my opinion he is by far the best player in Arsenal’s history, and he is better than Mohamed Salah.”
