Dubai World Cup Preview - Sat 27th March
One of the biggest races on the international flat racing calendar is the Dubai World Cup, and the race takes place this Saturday. Not only due to the huge purse on offer, but the prestige of winning this race is something else that sets it out from many others that are held around the world.
As ever, the race has attracted a strong field, with horses coming from all over the world to take part in this, and it is a foreign raider, one having his first run in Dubai, who we like the look of in this contest.

This really does look to be a wide open renewal of the race and there isn’t one standout performer who ticks every box that we can go with. If you are taking a chance on a horse, then you should do that at a big price and that is exactly what we are doing.
French raider Magny Cours is our selection, who is now a six-year-old although has very few miles on the clock. Let’s get the negatives out of the way first, he’s never ran on dirt or in Dubai, the only time he’s been out of France is to the UK, which is a short trip and was a winning one.
Now the positives, there is a lot to like about this runner, he’s shown a high level of ability throughout his career so far, and there is a chance we have not seen the best of him yet. He has proven himself on the all-weather which is a positive, and Andre Fabre knows all about training horses. British based William Buick has been given the ride too, an experienced jockey out in Dubai thanks to his association with Godolphin.
Expect him to be held up early, so the draw won’t be an inconvenience, allowing him to drop in and move across the track then look out for constant acceleration and a finishing kick towards the end, which we think can get Magny Cours involved in the finish.
He’s 11/1 with Ladbrokes and looks more than capable of getting involved in the places at least, with four being paid by this bookmaker.
Rest of the Card
Elsewhere on the card, look out for Mark Johnston sending across Subjectivist for the staying contest at 12:50pm. This horse is just four, won a Group 1 staying contest at Longchamp to end last year and looks very interesting for the coming season.
We also like another British runner in the sprint at 1:30pm. Space Blues may well be the class act but looks better at 7f so we will chance Khaadem as an each way option in the race against the field for Charlie Hills. He’s been rock solid in British Group 1 contests recently and can go well on the turf here.
