World Cup Group G Preview
Group G is headed by England and Belgium, and those two should give us a very good game to watch when they end the group stages on June 28. It looks highly likely that when they play that game it will be to determine who finishes top of the group, and both will qualify. Panama and Tunisia round off Group G and both can go into the World Cup with no pressure or expectations. Anything they can get will be a bonus, but both look set to struggle.
England have been handed a relatively easy group this summer, as well as a nice entry into the tournament with their fixture list. Opening games against Tunisia and Panama should give them the ideal opportunity to ease into the tournament and build confidence with two wins. Their third game against Belgium is likely to be the one that decides who wins the group, but regardless of the outcome of that game, England should have no problems qualifying from this group.
Belgium find themselves in a very similar position to England. They have been spoken about as potential winners of the World Cup, and if they are to do that then only three wins would do in the group stages. Like England, they have two easy games to begin with, followed by the game against England to decide the group. There is a lot to like about this Belgium team, and they look to have a great chance of going a long way when they head out to Russia.
Tunisia have been handed a very tough draw here, and their best chance of picking up any points is in their final game of the group stages against Panama. If things go as they should for the two big teams in this group, Tunisia will go into their final game tied on 0 points with Panama. The winner will finish third, while the loser will go home empty handed. Tunisia look to have a slightly better team than Panama, and would go into that final game as favourites to take something from it.
Panama have an uphill struggle at the World Cup by the looks of it. They should be comfortably outclassed by both England and Belgium, before a final game showdown with Tunisia. Despite qualifying ahead of some fancied teams in their American section, Panama look set to really struggle in every game they play. They will be hoping to pick something up from their three games, but finishing bottom of the table with 0 points wouldn’t be the biggest shock.
Group G Bet
Both England and Belgium should get six points from their opening two games. Their game will decide who wins the group, but a draw will also likely favour Belgium, who score more goals and are likely to have a better goal difference.
